Two sheets of clear acrylic, four polished chrome bolts, and whatever you want to look at held in between. This desk frame has no border and no glass - your photo simply sits suspended in the acrylic, catching light from every side.
It stands on two slim chrome rods, turns portrait or landscape, and opens in under a minute when you want to change what is in it.
Why you'll love it
- The gallery look, in acrylic - two 3mm high-clarity panels instead of glass: the same optical clarity, a fraction of the weight, and nothing that can shatter
- Chrome that does the work - four standoff screws clamp the panels together; two chrome rods hold the whole thing upright and steady
- Turns either way - portrait for a single face, landscape for the group shot. Same frame
- Opens in a minute - loosen the caps, slide the old picture out, put the new one in, tighten. There are no tools in the box because none are needed
- Not just photographs - postcards, ticket stubs, a child's drawing, a pressed flower, a line of handwriting worth keeping
- Boxed ready to give - a white gift box with all the chrome inside, nothing to assemble first
Getting the size right - worth two minutes
Frames in this range are named after their outer sheet, not the window you see through. The four standoff bolts sit 1.5-2cm inside each edge, and that border eats into the display area.
So the rule is simple: go one size up from your print. A 4x6 print wants the 5x7 frame. A 5x7 print wants the 6x8. A 6x8 print wants the 8x10.
| Frame size | Outer | Display area | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8x10 inch | 20 x 25cm | approx 17 x 22cm | Standard 6x8 photos, large prints, artwork. The largest in the range |
| 6x8 inch | 15 x 20cm | approx 12 x 17cm | Standard 5x7 photos, small prints, artwork |
| 5x7 inch | 13 x 18cm | approx 10 x 15cm | Standard 4x6 photos, postcards, A6 cards. The one most people want for an ordinary photo print |
| 4x6 inch | 10 x 15cm | approx 7 x 12cm | Small artwork, gift cards, handwritten quotes and notes |
The one that catches people out is the smallest. A 4x6 frame has a 7 x 12cm window and will not take a 4x6 photograph - the 5x7 is the frame for that. Nothing in this range holds A4 or A5 either; 17 x 22cm is the largest window we make. If you are framing an A4 certificate, our wall mounted acrylic frame in A3 is the one you want.
In the box
- Two clear acrylic panels per frame
- Four chrome standoff screws and two caps per frame
- Two chrome stand rods per frame
- A white gift box
Peel it before you judge it
Both panels ship with film on both faces - four films per frame. Take all of them off. Until you do, the acrylic looks hazy and slightly grey. That is the film, not the frame.
Ready to hand over
It arrives boxed with the hardware inside, so there is nothing to wrap. A new home, a graduation, a wedding, a birthday with a nought in it, Christmas - it suits most of them.
Questions we get asked
Will the 4x6 frame hold my 4x6 photo?
It will not, and this is the answer we most want you to read before ordering. The standoff border leaves a window of roughly 7 x 12cm. For a standard 4x6 print, order the 5x7.
Does it stand up on its own?
Yes. Two chrome rods slot into the base and take the weight, in either orientation. It is freestanding only - there is no wall fitting with this one.
Is the clear part glass?
No, acrylic. It reads as glass but weighs less and will not break into pieces if it goes over.
How hard is it to change the picture?
A minute at most. Loosen the four caps, swap the contents, tighten them again.
Will an A4 or A5 document fit?
No. The biggest window in this range is 17 x 22cm, so neither size will go in. For certificates, diplomas and full A4 documents, use the A3 size of our wall mounted acrylic frame.
Does a photo come with it?
No - it arrives empty for your own print. The pictures in our images are there to show scale and styling.
The rest of the range
- Acrylic wall mounted frame - the same standoff design, fixed to the wall, up to A3 outer for full A4 certificates
- Double sided magnetic acrylic photo block - a 20mm block held by corner magnets, showing a different photo on each side
